Subject:Know any queer rural zines? x-post (if this doesn't belong/breaks rules, sorry; tell me&I'll delete)
Posted by:angstypenguin.
Time:2:57 am.
Mood: hopeful.
Sorry if this doesn't belong here, but my friend Jenna (a.k.a. trashcan_chica) needs some help:

"does anyone know of any queer zines about living in rural areas or going to rural areas?

any help/pointing in the right direction would be amazing. i went through the whole Queer Zine Archive and couldn't really find anything.

thanks!
jenna b

p.s. i just got a wordpress site, sassyfrasscircus.com!"

Her (AIM) away message also says: "is looking for zines about/by members of radical queer ANTI-URBAN communities, so if you know of any..."

So please comment if you can help at all; thanks. :]

Subject:We made a record.
Posted by:tvfs.
Time:3:08 am.
Hi there. We're the View From Space. We're from San Diego, CA.

We just made a record called Hands Drawn to Fire As Sailors to Sea. It's four songs in twenty-nine minutes. One of them has a gang vocal.

If Drive Like Jehu, Funeral Diner, Isis, Unwound, Mogwai, Godspeed You Black Emperor, and Envy were all cats and got into a fight, they'd sound something like the way we sound.

You can hear some of the songs here: click click click.

We play shows and stuff, and we could talk about them, but mostly this is a fairly typical "omgz guyz our band put out a cheaply made CD-R you should totally come see us play and/or buy one!!!1!" type of post.

So tell us what you think, and if you like it, that's cool. Maybe we'll come through the city you live in one day and you can come see us and tell us in person. Or maybe we already play in the city you live in, so you can do it sooner. Or if you don't like it, you can tell us that we suck and that abortion is a choice that our mothers should have made.

Anyway, thanks for reading... and hopefully listening.

Subject:Two days of Southern California fun with the Narrator, Oxford Collapse, and the View From Space.
Posted by:thereceivingend.
Time:1:42 am.
Wednesday, June 22nd, 8:00pm, $5
@ the Smell, 247 South Main Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012
Thursday, June 23rd, 6:30pm, $5
@ KSDT Radio on UCSD campus, 9500 Gilman Drive, Building #293, San Diego CA 92101

The Narrator is from Chicago; they have mp3's here. Oxford Collapse is from New York City; they have mp3's here. The View From Space is from San Diego; they have no mp3's up, but a delightful Myspace page you can access here. Maybe if you like any of these bands, you'll come out to see them play, since the Narrator and Oxford Collapse could certainly use the help.

Hey everyone.

I'm setting out on my big adventure in two weeks and really need some help. I have a pretty limited amount of cash so I won't really be able to do much as far as housing, transportation or food. If any of you or your friends can show me around towns, point me towards the scene, provide a floor to sleep, know of any friendly squats or know where to dumpster or get food for dirt cheap, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I'm a really nice girl, I swear! Even the smallest amount of information can potentially help me out alot.

ANYONE ON THE PACIFIC COAST, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR LOCATION, IF YOU'RE WILLING TO HELP A GIRL OUT PLEASE REPLY.

Here's some info:
June 21st - I arrive in SEATTLE
August 10th- I depart from LOS ANGELES

I'll probably be staying in SEATTLE until the 26th when I plan on starting my venture down the West Coast.
I defintitely want to make stops in the following locations, but I'm open to anything so if you don't live in one of these places and you can help out still reply.
SEATTLE
PORTLAND
EUGENE
CRATER LAKE
SAN FRANCISCO
LA
SAN DIEGO
TIJUANA
MURIETTA

Help me out!

Oh, and travel tips are always good so be sure to leave those too.

Thanks so much,
Leelou
